Research Description
This research would focus on data from CAVs and other sources that could greatly enhance and support performance management requirements. Research will include examining the possible performance management benefits (safety, congestion reduction, etc.) resulting from CAV impacts and market penetration. Questions to be considered in this research: Will performance management change with the availability of data from CAVs? What will be the incremental availability of new data sources from CAVs? Can we develop simulated data streams to mimic CAV data for research purposes?

This research idea was developed during a jointly held strategic planning meeting between TRB RTSMO and Freeway Operations Committees held in August 2017.
The lead for the idea is the RTSMO Subcommittee CAV.
