Research Description
The use of third-party traffic data combined with IOOs own infrastructure data is becoming the standard paradigm for efficiently and effectively capturing mobility and safety related information for an agency. This minimizes IOO capital and maintenance costs. It is increasing apparent that much of this data can be used by either party or by other reginal transportation agencies. This provides economies of scale when data purchases are made and allows all partners to see the same sets of data. This helps communicate multi modal and safety needs across a region and encourages stakeholder and partner engagement. Research is needed on what data sharing frameworks and agreements are most effective. Best practices on how is the data confidence is ensure, stored and distributed are key outcomes needed.
